Take home a breathtaking work of art by Suzanne Damrich. Damrich is inspired by the towering oaks that surround her studio in Mobile, AL. “Dwelling with these powerful, sheltering creatures sparks the desire to carve them into the wax, revealing the luminous, gold image. My experience as an artist confirms the ancient belief that art puts us in touch with something greater than ourselves, a benevolent force that sustains us.”
Encaustic is an ancient art form, revived in the mid 20th century. Hot wax is painted onto a rigid surface and is very sculptural while still warm. It hardens as it cools, creating durable form. As with any fine art, encaustic pieces should not be hung in direct sunlight, left in a hot car or subjected to intense heat or freezing temperatures. If the surface gets cloudy over time, simply buff with a soft cloth. Size: 22 x 28 inches
